The arrests were made during routine patrols in Borgu Local Government Area and around a military cantonment perimeter, according to a statement by the Acting Media Information Officer of Operation Savannah Shield, Captain Jamilu Muhammed Yahaya.
In the first operation, troops on patrol along the Doro axis in Wawa, Borgu LGA, apprehended three suspected informants on June 6, 2026.
Preliminary investigations linked the suspects to a bandit group reportedly operating in Duru, around the fringes of Kainji Lake National Park.
Items recovered from them included two Tecno keypad phones, one MP3 device allegedly containing propaganda and inciting messages, and a cash sum of ₦113,400.
In a separate operation, troops of 221 Battalion also arrested two suspected informants during a patrol around the cantonment perimeter fence.
The military said preliminary findings suggested that the suspects were allegedly deployed as reconnaissance elements to gather information on the cantonment.
Items recovered from the second arrest included one Android phone, one Tecno keypad phone, one motorcycle and ₦86,100 cash.
The suspects and recovered exhibits are currently in custody for further investigation, while efforts are ongoing to track other members of the alleged criminal network.
Operation Savannah Shield said the arrests show its commitment to dismantling terrorist support networks and denying criminal groups freedom of action within the region.
