The General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, has stated that he will not hand over the leadership of the church to any of his biological children, emphasizing that the ministry belongs to Jesus Christ and not to him.

Speaking on the future of the church, Kumuyi stressed that leadership succession in the ministry would not be based on family ties or inheritance, but on God’s direction and the church’s established processes.

According to the respected cleric, Deeper Life is a spiritual institution founded for the service of God and should not be treated as a personal or family enterprise.

“I will not hand over Deeper Life Church to my son. The church belongs to Jesus Christ, not to me,” Kumuyi said.»

His remarks come amid ongoing discussions about succession in major religious organizations, particularly concerns over the transfer of leadership to family members in some ministries.

Kumuyi’s position has drawn attention from church members and observers, many of whom view it as a reaffirmation of his long-held stance on accountability, stewardship, and the spiritual ownership of the ministry.

Founded in 1973, Deeper Christian Life Ministry has grown into one of Nigeria’s largest Pentecostal denominations, with branches across Africa, Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
