A group of Nigerian youths on Tuesday staged a protest at the National Assembly in Abuja over the worsening insecurity across the country.
The protesters, under the banner “Nigerians Unite Against Terror,” marched from the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs to the National Assembly to demand stronger government action against terrorism, banditry and kidnappings.
Convener of the protest, Isah Abubakar, said insecurity has become a national crisis affecting Nigerians across political, religious and ethnic lines.
According to him, bandits do not care whether their victims belong to APC, ADC, PDP, NDC, PRP or any other party.
He said many Nigerians now live in fear, adding that there are roads in the country people can no longer pass through once it is 5pm.
The protesters said citizens must continue to demand accountability from leaders and security agencies responsible for protecting lives and property.
They also urged Nigerians to speak up, report suspicious activities and refuse to normalise insecurity.
