The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has achieved full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for all its academic programmes, marking a major milestone in the institution’s academic history.
According to the university management, the accreditation followed a comprehensive NUC evaluation exercise conducted across various faculties, schools, and academic centres between October and November 2025.
The result, conveyed in a letter dated April 7, 2026, confirmed that all UNIBEN degree programmes now meet national academic standards, with the accreditation status valid for five years up to 2030.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Edoba Omoregie (SAN), described the development as a reflection of the university’s commitment to academic excellence, quality assurance, and institutional discipline. He commended staff, faculties, departments, and relevant committees for their dedication to meeting accreditation requirements.
With this achievement, UNIBEN strengthens its position among Nigerian universities fully compliant with regulatory standards set by the NUC, reinforcing confidence in its academic credibility and training output.
