Professor Segun Aina has officially assumed office as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), pledging to uphold the examination body’s integrity and strengthen public confidence in Nigeria’s admissions process. He succeeds Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, whose two-term tenure ended after 10 years in office.
In his inaugural address at JAMB headquarters in Abuja, Aina said the Board would remain uncompromising in its fight against examination malpractice, stressing that every admission secured through dishonest means deprives a deserving candidate of a legitimate opportunity. He also pledged to deploy technology, simplify procedures, improve communication, and make JAMB more transparent, efficient, and user-friendly.
Aina expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for the appointment and promised to justify the confidence placed in him through diligent service. He also assured candidates, parents, and tertiary institutions that his administration would build a more responsive and accessible JAMB that delivers professional and timely services.
The 40-year-old computer engineering professor becomes the youngest person to serve as JAMB Registrar, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the examination body as it seeks to deepen reforms and maintain the standards established over the past decade.
