The Chairman of Shendam Local Government Area in Plateau State, Dr. Nicholas Kemi Nshe, has introduced a special incentive package for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) medical personnel serving in the council.
Under the initiative, medical doctors posted to Shendam for their one-year national service will receive a ₦150,000 monthly allowance in addition to free accommodation. Other healthcare professionals, including nurses, pharmacists, and medical laboratory scientists, will receive ₦70,000 monthly.
Dr. Nshe announced the initiative during a two-day free medical outreach organized in partnership with the NYSC under its Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) programme.
According to the council chairman, the package is aimed at attracting more healthcare professionals to rural communities, addressing the shortage of medical personnel, and improving access to quality healthcare services for residents.
