The Ogun State Police Command says its Anti-Kidnapping Unit has rescued an abducted professional truck driver and neutralised two suspected kidnappers during a counter-operation along the Papalanto–Ilaro Road.
According to a statement issued by the Command on Sunday, the victim was abducted at about 11:10 p.m. on August 25, 2026, around Ajibawo, Ibese, Ogun State.
Acting on intelligence, operatives reportedly stormed the kidnappers’ hideout, where two suspects were neutralised while other members of the gang allegedly fled with gunshot injuries.
Police said the operation led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, 25 rounds of live ammunition, two mobile phones and ₦2 million in cash, suspected to be proceeds of criminal activities.
The corpses of the two suspects have been deposited at a morgue for autopsy, while efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing members of the gang.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for the operation and assured residents that the Command would continue to intensify intelligence-led operations against kidnappers and other violent criminals across the state.
He also urged residents to report anyone seeking medical treatment for suspected gunshot injuries to the authorities.
