NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT CONSOLES ALGERIA OVER DEADLY WILDFIRE

The Nigerian Government has extended condolences to Algeria over devastating wildfires that claimed several lives and caused widespread destruction

A statement by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oluwafemi Adeniyi says, the wildfires killed people, injured many, displaced thousands, and destroyed homes and livelihoods in provinces including Bejaia, Jijel and Tizi Ouzou.

The Government commends Algerian firefighting and emergency teams for their efforts to contain the disaster, and acknowledged ongoing relief operations for affected communities.

The statement expresses solidarity with the Government and people of Algeria during this difficult period, and prayed for the repose of the dead, comfort for bereaved families, and quick recovery for the injured.
