Nigeria and the International Energy Agency (IEA) have signed a Joint Work Programme to strengthen cooperation on energy data, policy development and investment across the country’s energy value chain.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, who received an IEA delegation led by Executive Director Dr Fatih Birol in Abuja, described Nigeria’s formal admission as an IEA Association Country as a significant milestone.
Shettima said the development was another testament to the gains of President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, while noting that Nigeria would benefit from the IEA’s expertise and global energy networks.
The agreement is expected to support economic growth, attract investment and strengthen Nigeria’s energy security.
