To protect the country’s critical energy infrastructure and ensure uninterrupted gas operations.
This followed a meeting between the Defence leadership and the executive team of NLNG, led by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Leye Falade, at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters on May 21, 2026.
Speaking during the meeting, General C.G. Musa described energy infrastructure as the bedrock of Nigeria’s economic survival, stressing that protecting it remains a non-negotiable national priority.
He said Nigeria’s future depends heavily on gas, adding that operational threats can only be eliminated through strong coordination between government, the Armed Forces, and industry stakeholders.
Musa also highlighted the deployment of a specialised Maritime Task Force in the Gulf of Guinea to protect offshore operations and neutralise threats against Nigeria’s energy assets.
He further disclosed that Nigeria is boosting local defence manufacturing to reduce dependence on foreign arms markets and strengthen national security self-reliance.
The Defence leadership assured NLNG that the Armed Forces are fully prepared to secure its operations and deepen tactical collaboration to protect Nigeria’s energy backbone.
