Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has sponsored the mass wedding of 1,500 indigenous couples at the Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II Mosque in Kofar Kudu, Kano.
The ceremony, held on August 7, 2026, was conducted under the leadership of Malam Aminu Daurawa, Commander-General of the Kano State Hisbah Board.
To support the newly married couples, the governor presented ₦200,000 each to every bride and groom as start-up capital for small businesses to help them establish their families.
The state government also provided household items, including furniture, foodstuffs and other essential supplies, to help the couples begin their married lives.
