The Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVS) has arrested a suspect in connection with the theft of a generator belonging to Kagoro Mosque in Sabon Gari, Tudun Wada, and recovered approximately 100 kilograms of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis during the operation.

According to KADVS, the operation was led by the Kaduna South Sector Commander, Suleiman Buba, following the arrest of Uzaifa Isa, who is alleged to have stolen a Jiling generator from the mosque.

The agency said the suspect cooperated with investigators and led operatives to the location where the stolen generator had been concealed.

While attempting to recover the generator along Kagoro Road, KADVS operatives arrested another suspect, Musa Yusuf, a resident of Sayaya Road, Kinkinau, Tudun Wada. He was allegedly found in possession of the stolen generator and nine sacks containing dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis sativa, with a combined weight of about 100 kilograms.

KADVS said the quantity of the suspected narcotics suggests possible commercial distribution, describing the recovery as another significant breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to combat crime and drug-related offences across Kaduna State.

The agency attributed the success to its intensified operations under the administration of Governor Uba Sani and the leadership of the Commander of the Kaduna State Vigilance Service, retired Commissioner of Police Ali D. Audu.

According to the agency, the suspects and the recovered exhibits have been processed in accordance with the law. Musa Yusuf and the suspected cannabis will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and possible prosecution, while Uzaifa Isa and the recovered generator will be transferred to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and legal action.

KADVS reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the police and other security agencies to strengthen patrols, surveillance, and intelligence gathering aimed at protecting lives and property and bringing criminal elements to justice across Kaduna State.
