The governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Dr Wole Oluyede, and Governor Biodun Oyebanji yesterday traded words ahead of the June 20 governorship election.
Oluyede, who expressed confidence that PDP would emerge victorious in the election, said Governor Oyebanji had no business returning to power due to alleged poor performance in his first term.
Addressing supporters in Ikere-Ekiti, the PDP governorship candidate alleged that the APC-led administration had failed to deliver meaningful development despite having resources at its disposal.
Reacting, Governor Oyebanji described Oluyede’s allegations as misleading and distortion of facts, insisting that the APC-led administration had delivered measurable progress across key sectors.
Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, said the current administration’s record in infrastructure, education, health care and economic development remained verifiable and impactful.
He said: “It is unfortunate that the PDP candidate chose to misinform the public with baseless claims.
The achievements of this administration are visible across the state, from road construction to improvements in education, health care and job creating.
