Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu says Africans must continue to preserve their rich cultural heritage, strengthen unity across the continent and the diaspora and invest more in the education, empowerment, and well-being of the people.
This is part of her message marking the International Day for People of African Descent 2026, with the theme, “People of African Descent: Recognition, Justice, and Development.”
She notes that while the day celebrates the rich heritage and remarkable contributions of people of African descent to the progress of humanity, it is also a reminder of the need to renew commitment to protecting human rights and creating opportunities for every individual to realize their full potential.
