Joash Amupitan, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), says the weaponisation of information is the most significant technological challenge facing democracy.
Amupitan spoke in Abuja on Monday at the “Beyond the ballot” conference, organised by the European Union (EU) support to democratic governance in Nigeria (SDGN) to examine artificial intelligence (AI) and its role in electoral information integrity.
The INEC chairman said electoral information disorder also poses a threat to the collective security of citizens.
