African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has accused individuals from the Ekiti State Government House and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) of involvement in the violent attack on him and his team in Ado-Ekiti.
In a statement following the incident, Sowore alleged that the attackers were provided with tracking and operational support by DSS operatives. He claimed security personnel had been trailing and harassing his team since they arrived in the state on Thursday.
Sowore further alleged that DSS operatives threatened the manager of a restaurant where his team had earlier eaten, warning him against allowing them to use the premises again.
He said the attack happened on Friday, shortly after he concluded an interview at MIDAS FM 90.5 in Ado-Ekiti, when armed men allegedly descended on his team with DSS assistance.
The allegations have not been independently verified, and the Ekiti State Government and DSS have yet to respond to the claims in the statement.
