Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have neutralised 48 Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition after repelling coordinated attacks on military positions in Bitta, Borno State, and Buni Yadi, Yobe State.

The attacks occurred between October 29 and 30, 2026, targeting troops in Bitta, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, and the North East Theatre Training School (NETTS), Buni Yadi, Gujba LGA of Yobe State.

In Bitta, troops, supported by air assets, successfully repelled an attempted terrorist assault on the night of October 29, inflicting heavy casualties on the attackers. At Buni Yadi, troops launched a counter-offensive against a large ISWAP force that attacked NETTS, culminating in an approximately five-hour engagement coordinated by the Theatre Command, with intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities integrated into ground and air operations.

TheRadarNewsNG gathered that the counter-offensive resulted in 48 terrorists neutralised, with troops recovering 42 AK-47 rifles, five PKT machine guns, four general-purpose machine guns, one 60mm mortar, 105 AK-47 magazines and two video cameras.

Also recovered were thousands of rounds of assorted ammunition, including 2,738 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 2,054 rounds of PKT ammunition, 223 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition and 30 rounds of 12.7mm armour-piercing incendiary ammunition.

The military said the successful operations demonstrate the combat effectiveness and coordination of troops, adding that efforts would continue to deny terrorists freedom of action across the North-East theatre.
