The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has seized alcoholic beverages worth an estimated ₦300 million during enforcement operations against banned sachet drinks and alcoholic beverages packaged in PET bottles below 200ml in Lagos State.

The raids were conducted at Ile-Epo Market, Ojuwoye Market in Mushin and Oke-Arin Market on Lagos Island. Several distributors and retailers were arrested at Ile-Epo, while officials evacuated cartons of the prohibited products from the affected markets.

NAFDAC said investigations showed that some distributors and retailers were allegedly hoarding the banned products amid increased demand and rising prices. The agency warned operators against selling, distributing or storing the prohibited alcoholic beverages.

The regulator reiterated that the ban on alcoholic drinks packaged in sachets and PET bottles below 200ml remains in force. NAFDAC said the enforcement is part of its ongoing efforts to remove the prohibited products from circulation and ensure compliance with the regulation.
