APC leaders and stakeholders from Nigeria’s North Central have launched the North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Movement to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 presidential election. The initiative was launched at a meeting in Abuja on Friday.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, said the movement’s objective is to canvass support and mobilise voters across the region for Tinubu. He said the North Central is targeting the highest regional vote total for the President in the 2027 election.
Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule described the initiative as timely and said the region was politically stronger than it was ahead of the 2023 election. National Coordinator Sonny Echono said the platform would bring political leaders, grassroots actors and other stakeholders together across the North Central.
The stakeholders resolved to hold a grand rally in Lafia on October 10, alongside medical outreach programmes, town-hall meetings across the region and the establishment of a reconciliation committee to address internal party grievances.
