Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that Rivers State has no option but to continue supporting President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
Wike made the statement in Port Harcourt during a luncheon organised by the Rainbow Coalition in honour of candidates contesting in the forthcoming governorship, National Assembly, and State Assembly elections in Rivers State.
The former Rivers State governor said Tinubu had shown strong appreciation to Rivers people through federal appointments, opportunities, and developmental projects since assuming office in 2023.
According to him, Rivers residents should compare what the state has gained under previous administrations with what it has received under Tinubu in less than three years.
“President Tinubu has shown so much appreciation to Rivers people. We have no choice but to continue supporting him,” Wike said.
He also urged political supporters to focus on grassroots mobilisation, stressing that elections are not won on television but at polling units, wards, and local government areas.
Wike further expressed confidence in the Rainbow Coalition, saying the group would dominate Rivers politics and warning that nobody would be allowed to hijack what belongs to the people of the state.
