President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to immediately seek the vacation of the court order freezing the Osun State Government’s bank accounts ahead of the state’s governorship election.
According to the President, he was “deeply embarrassed” by the timing of the action, emphasizing that although the EFCC is an independent agency, no action should create the impression that the Federal Government is attempting to influence or interfere in the Osun governorship election.
Tinubu stressed the need to uphold public confidence in the electoral process and ensure that government institutions remain impartial as the election approaches.
