The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested three men accused of impersonating officials of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) after intercepting an unregistered Lexus IS 250 in Lafia.

The suspects were identified as Mohammed Umar, Mohammed Nuhu and Ibrahim Suleiman. Police spokesperson Ramhan Nansel said operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit stopped the vehicle during a routine patrol around Bukan Sidi.

According to the police, Nuhu claimed to be an ICPC officer and presented an identification card bearing the commission’s name. Preliminary investigations allegedly revealed that the card was forged. The driver, Umar, reportedly failed to provide a satisfactory explanation about the vehicle’s ownership.

Police also said profiling linked Suleiman to the Eiye Confraternity, an allegation that remains under investigation. Nuhu reportedly claimed he accompanied the driver from Kaduna to Lafia because Umar did not have a valid driver’s licence.

All three suspects remain in police custody as investigators work to verify the vehicle’s ownership and establish whether other offences are connected to the case. The police said they would be charged to court after investigations.
