The Minister of Steel Development, Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, has flagged off a 20-megawatt mini-grid power project in Egume, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Audu also commissioned two additional mini-grid projects in Offa and Emewe Efopa communities as part of efforts to expand access to reliable electricity in rural areas.

The projects are being implemented in partnership with the Rural Electrification Agency and the Ministry of Power under the Federal Government’s rural electrification programme.

The 20MW Egume mini-grid, described as the largest in North Central Nigeria, is expected to be completed within six months and integrated into existing power infrastructure.

The initiative is expected to improve electricity supply, support small businesses, boost rural productivity, and strengthen economic activities across communities in Kogi East.
