Nigerian troops have arrested a 50-year-old woman in Borno State over allegations that she was transporting food items and clothing materials to her son, who is reportedly linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province.
According to security reports, the suspect, identified as Mrs Kellu Alhaji Abba, was intercepted on May 20 at about 8:00 a.m. during a routine stop-and-search operation at the C Company 7 Platoon checkpoint.
The development was disclosed in a post shared on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
Reports indicated that the woman was allegedly conveying food supplies and hijabs intended for her son, Modu Mustapha, who is said to be associated with terrorist activities around the Dumba area of Borno State.
Security sources said the suspect was taken into custody for further interrogation as investigations continue into the alleged support network linked to insurgent groups operating in the region.
The North-East region of Nigeria has faced years of insurgency linked to extremist groups, with security agencies continuing operations aimed at disrupting logistics and supply channels allegedly used by militants.
