Six people have been killed and two others injured in a road crash along the Kabba–Odo-Ape Road in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State. The crash occurred on Saturday and involved a truck and a commercial vehicle, with residents of Odo-Ape reportedly joining efforts to rescue survivors.
The Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lawal Fagge, confirmed the incident on Sunday. He said six people died in the crash, while two others sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rescued from the scene.
Fagge attributed the crash to speeding and warned motorists against dangerous driving practices, including unnecessary overtaking and driving while fatigued. He urged motorists to exercise greater caution to prevent further loss of lives on the road.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital in Kabba, while the two injured victims are receiving attention. The FRSC reiterated its appeal to motorists to obey road safety rules and avoid behaviours that could endanger other road users.
