Vice President Kashim Shettima has called for healthy competition among Nigeria’s 36 states, saying it is essential to achieving sustainable economic growth, creating jobs, and improving the living standards of Nigerians.
Speaking at the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026 in Asaba, Shettima said Nigeria’s economic future depends not only on the Federal Government but also on proactive state governments attracting investments and developing their economies.
He noted that the growing number of investment summits organised by states reflects a positive shift toward economic competitiveness, adding that every state has unique strengths that should be harnessed based on its history, geography, people, and comparative advantages.
The Vice President urged state governments to continue creating investor-friendly environments and implementing policies that promote economic development, innovation, and prosperity across the country.
