Minister John Enoh said Nigerians should keep an open mind as investigations continue into the controversy surrounding an alleged illegal agency, insisting that available official records show no public funds have been spent.
He acknowledged concerns over the matter, describing the situation as regrettable, while urging citizens to follow the ongoing legislative and investigative processes before reaching final conclusions about the allegations and those connected to them.
According to official YouTube channel of Channels on Monday, July 28, 2026, Enoh referred to recent appearances by senior government officials before the National Assembly.
He stated, “The bottom line is that from what those two their submissions were in the National Assembly, no public money has been expended.”
He further stressed, “There is no record, no indication that one kobo public funds has been spent or released to an illegitimate or an illegal organization or agency.”
His comments came as lawmakers continued examining the controversy and demanded additional explanations from relevant authorities.
Enoh admitted that concerns remain because, in his words, “an agency not authorized, that is not legal, has been operational.”
However, he appealed for patience and fairness, saying, “I need Nigerians to also know, when people get angry and mad, people should also have a chance to also listen.”
He also pointed to earlier actions by senior government officials, noting, “The chief of staff himself was the one that first escalated this sometime last year.”
According to the minister, these developments demonstrate that the matter was already receiving official attention before the latest public debate intensified across the country.
The minister further highlighted the role of lawmakers in ensuring accountability. He noted that, “The House of Reps has summoned IGP, to produce. Let’s see how progress is made on that.”
Enoh maintained that ongoing investigations should be allowed to proceed without interference, adding that the public deserves accurate information based on evidence rather than speculation.
He said transparency and cooperation between institutions remain essential to resolving the matter while maintaining public confidence in the country’s oversight and accountability mechanisms.
