The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspected drug peddlers and recovered eight parcels of weeds suspected to be “Canadian Loud” concealed inside a car tyre at a vulcaniser’s shop.
The command said the arrests followed actionable intelligence received on September 2, 2026, about the activities of a suspected drug dealer allegedly using a vulcaniser’s shop to conceal illicit drugs inside car tyres.
Following the intelligence, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, directed operatives of the Anti-Narcotics Section, through the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, to move to the location.
The operatives proceeded to the shop and, with the assistance of the vulcaniser, arrested two suspects and recovered the eight parcels of suspected Canadian Loud concealed inside the tyre. A vulcanising machine allegedly used to conceal the substances was also recovered as an exhibit.
According to Police Public Relations Officer DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, preliminary interrogation showed that the suspects allegedly confessed to their involvement and are currently assisting detectives with the investigation.
Police said the suspects will be charged to court after the investigation is concluded, while efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other alleged members of the syndicate.
The command described the operation as part of its intelligence-led efforts to disrupt drug trafficking and criminal networks in Oyo State. It warned that illicit drugs can impair judgment, fuel violence and contribute to crimes including cultism, robbery, kidnapping and other organised criminal activities.
The police also urged members of the public to provide timely and credible information that could assist security agencies in preventing crime and making the state safer.
