The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, has reaffirmed the group’s commitment to securing a presidential ticket for Peter Obi ahead of future elections.
Tanko made this known in a statement on his social media handle, urging supporters to remain focused and intensify grassroots mobilization across the country.
“Our target is to secure that ticket for His Excellency Peter Obi, no cho cho. We have a future to protect for our unborn children. A president to make,” he said.
The Obidient Movement, a political grassroots group advocating for Obi’s presidency, has remained active since the 2023 general elections, pushing for reforms and citizen participation in governance.
Tanko called on members and supporters to reconnect with existing structures and engage more actively with people at the grassroots level, stressing the importance of collective action.
“Let us connect with our structures and the people on the ground. We need you. Let us interface for Nigeria,” he added.
He further expressed optimism about the country’s future, reiterating the movement’s popular slogan that a “New Nigeria is possible.”
The statement has since generated reactions among political observers and supporters, with many interpreting it as an early signal of renewed mobilization efforts ahead of the next election cycle.
Analysts say the remarks highlight the continued relevance of citizen-driven political movements in shaping Nigeria’s democratic landscape, particularly as discussions around party alignments and candidate selection begin to gain momentum.
