Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has joined Works Minister David Umahi and other stakeholders to inspect the Benin–Agbor Road, amid concerns over the road’s poor condition and the hardship faced by commuters and residents.
Okpebholo said Umahi apologised to the people of Edo and Delta states over the condition of the road and directed immediate measures to address the situation.
The minister also ordered action against contractors allegedly removing asphalt from federal roads without authorisation, as authorities move to address issues affecting the road project.
Okpebholo said Edo’s position as a major gateway connecting several parts of Nigeria makes the restoration of the road particularly important.
He thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for responding to concerns over the road and appealed to youths and residents to remain calm as efforts are intensified to provide lasting relief for road users.
