Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has expressed condolences to families who lost loved ones and traders affected by the deadly fire at Oluku Market. The governor described the incident as a painful tragedy, acknowledging the loss of lives and the destruction of businesses that many traders depend on for their livelihoods.

Okpebholo disclosed that he visited the affected market and victims receiving treatment at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH). He expressed solidarity with those affected and extended his sympathy to families mourning loved ones, as well as injured victims recovering from the incident.

The governor assured traders that his administration would support efforts to rebuild the market and help those whose businesses were destroyed return to their feet. The pledge is aimed at supporting affected traders as they begin the difficult process of recovering from the losses caused by the fire.

Okpebholo also urged residents to take safety warnings seriously, particularly during fuel-related emergencies, stressing that protecting human life must come before material possessions. He prayed for comfort for bereaved families, healing for the injured and strength for everyone affected by the tragedy.
