Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has praised the Nigerian Army for its unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Corps Members and NYSC formations across the country.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army in Jos, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, the NYSC DG stressed that the success of the Scheme depends largely on the peaceful and secure environment provided by security agencies.
General Nafiu commended the Army for consistently supporting NYSC operations, noting that no Orientation Course has ever been disrupted in states under the 3 Division’s jurisdiction due to security challenges.
The DG disclosed that more than 7,000 Corps Members are currently serving in Plateau State, contributing significantly to socio-economic development through education, healthcare, agriculture, and other sectors.
He also highlighted the NYSC’s role in promoting national unity, cultural integration, youth empowerment, and job creation, while emphasizing the contributions of Corps doctors, nurses, and teachers to underserved communities across Nigeria.
“We seek your continued support in providing an enabling environment for us to effectively discharge our mandate,” Nafiu said.
In response, Major General Oyinlola commended the NYSC leadership for its achievements and described the Scheme as a vital institution that continues to positively impact national development.
The Army commander reaffirmed the commitment of the 3 Division to protecting Corps Members and ensuring their safety at all times within its area of responsibility.
