The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has reaffirmed the Scheme’s commitment to building future economic leaders through youth empowerment, skill development, and structured national service programmes.
According to him, the NYSC is deliberately designed not just for national unity, but also to equip Nigerian graduates with practical skills, leadership capacity, and entrepreneurial mindset that can drive economic growth and national development.
He explained that through initiatives such as the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, corps members are being trained to become job creators rather than job seekers, while also contributing meaningfully to host communities during their service year.
Nafiu further stressed that the Scheme remains focused on strengthening innovation, discipline, and productivity among young Nigerians, describing them as critical to the country’s future economic stability and competitiveness.
The NYSC leadership has continued to emphasize reforms aimed at improving corps members’ welfare, enhancing training structures, and expanding partnerships that support youth entrepreneurship across Nigeria.
