The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has launched a Meta-supported initiative aimed at strengthening data protection, privacy awareness and regulatory capacity in the country.
In a statement signed by Itunu Dosekun, NDPC head of media unit, the commission said the programme, known as the Meta-Supported Initiatives for Data Protection (M-SIDP), forms part of a court-approved settlement reached with Meta Platforms Inc. following investigations into the company’s data processing practices in Nigeria.
