Former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has reportedly criticised the rising cost of electricity, claiming that his electricity bill has increased from about ₦500,000 to ₦4 million.
Amaechi reportedly made the claim while speaking on the impact of electricity costs on Nigerians, promising that if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar comes into power, his administration would restore electricity subsidies.
He also criticised the current electricity tariff regime, arguing that the rising cost of power is placing additional pressure on households and businesses.
The comments come amid ongoing debates over electricity tariffs, subsidies and the broader cost-of-living crisis in Nigeria.
