In a recent statement via his official X account, human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following reports that he is seeking Senate approval for a new $516 million loan.
”This man is on a mission to decimate and destroy Nigeria completely,” he wrote.
In his post, Effiong expressed deep concern about the country’s growing debt profile and suggested that continued borrowing could worsen Nigeria’s economic situation and place more pressure on citizens.
According to him, the decision to pursue another loan reflects a troubling pattern of governance, he argued that instead of reducing reliance on borrowing, the government appears to be expanding it and warned that this approach could have long-term consequences for the country’s financial stability.
He questioned the priorities of the current administration, in his view, repeated loan requests raise concerns about how previous funds have been managed and whether borrowing is being used as a substitute for sustainable economic planning.
Effiong went further to accuse the president of pursuing policies that could harm the country’s future, he described the situation as alarming and said Nigerians should be worried about the direction of economic management.
