Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo and Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke have agreed to deepen cooperation between Nigeria’s civil and military aviation authorities following the fatal NAF aircraft crash at Igbokoda, Ondo State.

The agreement was reached when Keyamo paid a condolence visit to Aneke. The minister said the incident highlighted the need for closer coordination between the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to strengthen aviation safety and protect lives.

A joint committee involving the NCAA and NAF will immediately coordinate cooperation in areas including airworthiness, aircraft certification, training and capacity building, while respecting the statutory responsibilities of both institutions. Keyamo also directed the NCAA to fully cooperate with the Air Force under the new framework.

Aneke welcomed the initiative, saying civil aviation professionals could support the Air Force in areas such as airworthiness and certification, while NAF personnel could contribute specialised expertise to the civil sector. The partnership is expected to improve technical cooperation, professional training and aviation safety across both sectors.
