Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has hosted the grand finale of the Renewed Hope 2nd Edition of the West African Horse Racing Derby, describing the championship as a powerful platform for promoting unity, preserving cultural heritage and strengthening ties across West Africa.
Speaking at the event held at Murtala Muhammed Square, Kaduna, Governor Uba Sani said he had the honour of delivering President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s goodwill message to participants, traditional rulers, distinguished guests and equestrian enthusiasts from Nigeria and across the West African sub-region.
According to the President’s message, sports remain a vital tool for promoting national unity, empowering young people, preserving cultural heritage and advancing regional integration. Tinubu also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to using sports to drive economic growth, social inclusion, youth development and national cohesion under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Governor Uba Sani said Kaduna State would continue investing in sports infrastructure and youth development, stressing that sports are not only for recreation but also serve as a catalyst for peacebuilding, talent development, job creation and economic opportunities.
He congratulated the winners and commended all participants for their discipline, excellence and sportsmanship. The governor also praised the Horse Racing Federation of Nigeria, the National Sports Commission and other partners for making the derby one of West Africa’s leading sporting and cultural events.
