According to a report by Punch Newspaper on Sunday, August 9, 2026, Sunday Falae, the Allied Peoples Movement candidate for Ondo Central Senatorial District of Ondo State, has expressed confidence that his party will defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress in the district during the 2027 general election.

Falae said the people of Ondo Central deserved stronger and more effective representation at the National Assembly, alleging that the APC had failed to deliver meaningful improvements in the lives of residents across the district.

The senatorial candidate particularly criticised the level of impact recorded in Akure, the state capital, arguing that residents deserved representatives who would be more responsive to their needs and focused on improving their welfare.

He made the statement during an interview with our correspondent in Akure on Sunday, where he discussed his political ambition, his motivation for seeking elective office and the prospects of the Allied Peoples Movement in the 2027 election.

Falae also maintained that the nature of modern politics was changing, with voters increasingly paying attention to the personalities, credibility and popularity of individual candidates rather than relying solely on the structures and strength of political parties.

He said his motivation was primarily centred on the people and his desire to give back to those who had supported his journey.

He explained that he believed some individuals’ future and wellbeing were connected to his own success and that this had encouraged him to continue empowering others.

He said, “What drives me is the people, and I always say this: I believe some people’s destiny is tied to me, to my success. Somebody got me to where I am today. And I believe I need to pay it back.

“If you know me, you know that since I’ve been in politics since 2010, I’ve not gotten any position or received a contract or anything. The money I make is what I’ve been spending to help empower people.”
