As political activities are gradually picking up ahead of the 2027 general election in Nigeria, the Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris has urged the media to promote peaceful and issue-based campaigns rather than becoming platforms for hate speech, misinformation and disinformation.
The Minister gave the appeal at a joint press briefing as parts of activities commemorating Taraba State 35th anniversary held in Jalingo.
Salihu Abdullahi Gwanara reports that the Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas at the briefing gave account of his administration’s journey so far and unveiled the state’s development master plan.
In their joint appeals they want political campaigns to provide citizens with reliable information to assess candidates and their policies urging the
media to protect democracy, strengthen public trust and ensure that political campaigns remain focused on issues rather than division.
