The House of Representatives has joined Nigerians at home and abroad in marking the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary, calling for renewed commitment and collective faith in the nation.

In a statement by the House Spokesman, Akin Rotimi, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen urged Nigerians to renew their faith in the country and the possibilities that lie ahead.

The statement describes Nigeria’s 66 years of independence as both a legacy to honour and a responsibility to uphold.

It further adds that the House would continue to discharge its constitutional responsibilities of legislation, oversight and representation, while working to strengthen institutions, advance the welfare and security of citizens, and uphold a democracy worthy of public trust.
