Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in education and youth development as a way to reduce insecurity and drive growth in the state.

He made this statement while hosting the Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mehmet Poroy, in Yola.

Governor Fintiri highlighted ongoing cooperation with Turkey, noting that over 100 Adamawa students are currently studying in Turkey and performing well. He added that the state plans to expand scholarship opportunities, skills acquisition programmes, and strengthen its School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Earlier, the Turkish Ambassador praised the partnership and confirmed continued support for Nigeria, especially in assisting internally displaced persons and improving vocational training. He also mentioned plans by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) to open an office in Abuja to deepen development collaboration. The envoy recently visited an IDP camp in Malkohi where relief materials were distributed to vulnerable families.
