The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout around the Paze–Byazhin mountains, located along the border corridor linking Abuja, Niger and Kaduna States.

The operation was led by the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle kidnapping networks operating around communities on the outskirts of the nation’s capital.

During the raid, four suspects identified as Yahaya Abdullahi, Muhammed Yunusa, Shamsudeen Mustapha and Hauwa Shafiu were arrested.

Police said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects were allegedly providing support services to the criminal group, including cooking food and other logistics assistance for kidnappers operating within the area.

Investigators also described the location as a suspected meeting point where armed men allegedly gathered to plan attacks on communities and travellers around the Abuja–Niger–Kaduna border axis.

The police said the camp was dismantled and destroyed during the operation to prevent the suspected criminals from using the location for further activities.

Authorities added that investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the network, while security operations continue across vulnerable border communities.
