Honourable Bello El-Rufai received the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, during a condolence visit to their family residence.
According to a media post by Bello El-Rufai on Tuesday, 7 April 2026, the CBN Governor visited to sympathize with the family over the passing of their grandmother, Hajiya Umma.
Bello El-Rufai described it as a privilege to host the apex bank chief, especially in the absence of other senior family members, noting his deep respect and admiration for Cardoso.
He commended the CBN Governor’s leadership, stating that investor confidence has improved under his stewardship.
As Chairman of the House Committee on Banking Regulations, Bello highlighted his close working relationship with Cardoso and his team.
He further described the CBN Governor as a reformer, praising his commitment to transparent and orthodox monetary policies, as well as his patriotism and courage in service.
Bello also acknowledged Cardoso as a father figure, expressing gratitude for his guidance and support over the years, while offering prayers for the departed souls.
