EFCC Challenges Diezani’s Bid to Present UK Court Judgment in Nigerian Case

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has opposed an application by former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, seeking to present a judgment from a United Kingdom court in her ongoing legal proceedings in Nigeria.

The anti-graft agency reportedly objected to the former minister’s attempt to rely on the UK court decision, which she says acquitted her of allegations connected to the case.

The development comes as legal proceedings involving Alison-Madueke continue, with the parties presenting arguments over the relevance and admissibility of evidence from proceedings conducted in the United Kingdom.

The EFCC’s opposition means the Nigerian court will have to determine whether the foreign judgment can be admitted and relied upon in the proceedings.

Further details are expected as the court considers the arguments from both sides.
