The Edo State Government has arrested two suspects over alleged organ harvesting, ritual killings and cult-related activities in Esan Central Senatorial District, demolishing properties in Uromi and Ewatto allegedly used for criminal activities.
The operation was carried out by the state’s special security squad, Operation Flush Out Kidnapping and Cultists, alongside the Edo State Security Corps, police and other security agencies. Authorities identified one suspect as 40-year-old Ebhata Eromosele, whose bungalow and boys’ quarters at Uwalor-Oke, Uromi, were demolished following allegations of ritual activities and organ harvesting.
Security officials alleged that three young women were attacked, with one reportedly dying while another was hospitalised and the third discharged. They said surveillance lasting more than a month helped security operatives trace the suspect to the property, where bloodstained bedding and other items were reportedly recovered.
A separate property at Idi-Negbon Eguare, Ewatto, was also demolished over alleged links to cult-related activities. The two suspects have been arrested and are in police custody for further investigation and prosecution, as the state government says it will continue its crackdown on kidnapping, cultism and other crimes.
