Minister of Defence Christopher Musa has called for stronger cooperation, intelligence sharing and border management among African countries to tackle terrorism and other crimes threatening the continent.
Musa made the call in Luanda, Angola, where he participated in African Union meetings as part of the Nigerian delegation led by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
He said Africa must strengthen its mechanisms for conflict prevention and resolution while improving its ability to respond to security challenges and sustain peace across the continent.
On the sidelines of the AU meetings, Musa also met members of the Nigerian community in Angola and highlighted Federal Government efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s security and improve the operational capacity of the Armed Forces and other security agencies.
The Defence Minister stressed that security challenges do not respect national borders, making cooperation between African countries essential in confronting terrorism and other crimes.
He said Nigeria would continue working with its African partners to promote peace, security and stability across the continent.
