The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has become the only sitting governor in Nigeria selected to receive the prestigious award from the “African Association of Insect Scientists” (AAIS). This is in recognition of his contributions to improving food security and promoting sustainable agriculture.
He will receive the award on October 19, 2026, in Abuja, during the opening ceremony of the 26th AAIS International Conference, according to Dokin Ƙarfe TV.
AAIS stated that Governor Fintiri was chosen because of his leadership in reviving agriculture, supporting farmers, rebuilding rural communities affected by insurgency, and implementing climate-smart agricultural policies.
The association said the achievements of the Adamawa State government have helped strengthen resilience in the agricultural sector and improve the lives of citizens. This has made the state a model for agricultural development and food security across the African continent.
