There is a popular sayin in Hausa – Ba’a Mugun Sarki, Sai Mugun Bafade. While Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is busy building bridges, connections and reconciliations, for his 2023 second term bid, on the other hand, his SSG, Bashir Ahmed is busy creating unnecessary problems and enemies for governor Fintiri and the PDP in Jimeta, Yola-North, the local government council with the highest number of voters in Adamawa state.
Bashir is not a real politician and one that truly understands how politics works. Furthermore, Bashir was nowhere when in 2019 some prominent Jimeta people sweat with their resources and political acumens to help bring to power, the Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri government. Today, Bashir is one of the beneficiaries of Jimeta’s slot in the Fintiri Administration, but Bashir is openly fighting people who worked hard for the emergence of the Fintiri government. And, these people have no in any time fight him or envy his position.
Recently, Bashir requested to meet with all the APC aspirants for the Yola-North Constituency in Adamawa State House of Assembly. At the meeting which is clearly an anti-party activity, all the attendees were shocked that, Bashir main agenda for calling the meeting was just to cast aspersions on the persons of Alh Musa Garba, Abba Mallam Babba, Alhaji Yayaji Audu Gombi (Adamawa PDP Central Zone Chairman), Alhaji Umaru Liman, Alh Sabo Bamanga, Adamu Momoh, Chibado Maigoro, Uba Bappa and Umaru Mahdi
Bashir went on to say that these 9 people and other prominent people in Jimeta have no grassroots connection and capacity to deliver Jimeta’s votes to the PDP. Bashir assertion was not only laughable but funny, though, there is a general knowledge in Jimeta that Bashir’s maternal lineage has a history of mental health disorder in the bloods- a kind of psychiatric problem that affects mood, thinking and behaviour. And, moreover, how can someone who even with a gun on his head cannot be able show his father’s or grandfather’s house in Jimeta ( Bashir is originally NUPE from Niger state), now turn to leveled real Jimetans that they don’t have the capacity to deliver Jimeta’s vote to the preferred political party and its candidates. These 9 people – Alh Musa Garba, Abba Mallam Babba, Alhaji Yayaji Audu Gombi (Adamawa PDP Central Zone Chairman), Alhaji Umaru Liman , Alh Sabo Bamanga, Adamu Momoh, Chibado Maigoro,Uba Bappa and Umaru Mahdi have from 1999 to 2019 been delivering Jimeta votes to who they work for. Mind you, their connection with their people doesn’t starts and ends with politics- they are connected with Jimeta in the area of philanthropic activities, getting employments to youth, helping their professionals and defending the interest of the Jimeta community at large.
Bashir has been working behind the scene to the detriment of Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s presidential ambitions- Bashir was among the very few people who worked hard to see that beautiful Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign office in Jimeta didn’t come to be. If not of Anti Atiku, Anti Fintiri moves, how can they appoint Audu Gulandu as the coordinator for Atiku/Fintiri campaign in YolaNorth and you expect Jimeta bigwigs to lineup behind Gulandu. Seniority is politics is not a child play!
Recall, sometimes back, in one article; attacking five prominent Adamawa citizens from Jimeta, SSG Bashir Ahmed, and his boys promised to bring to the public, more ‘revelations’ on the five people-. Many months after making the threat, the Adamawa people, Jimeta citizens in particular are still awaiting Bashir Ahmed and his boys. Empty threats, so it seems, they’ve nothing to say.
No one holding a brief for any person either in the Government or outside the Government. But Bashir should know that people are keenly watching his activities in the Government, as there are rumors of mismanagement of resources and corruption regarding contracts awards. In fact, all government consultancy services are being cornered by Bashir’s companies and Allies as alleged in some quarters. For example Tetfund intervention to the Adamawa state university and consultancy for government building contracts are also alleged to be opaque. In addition, there are allegation of faul play in fund allocation especially the ones concerning the Northeast Development Commissions and others. The 10 contracts each allocated by the Fintiri government to all the 21 LGA , Bashir has made sure all prominent Jimeta citizens were sidelined from that allocated to Yola North- so it was alleged.
This is not an attack or casting an aspersion on any person. But many people in Jimeta are also watching and know some activities other representatives of Jimeta in the Fintiri Government- people like: Yayaji Mijinyawa, the Commissioner of local government and chieftaincy affairs and House of Assembly Member -Sajoh Lekki. Though Jimeta people have all agreed that Sajoh Lekki is not getting a second term.
People like Bashir Ahmed are not, at this material time fit to be in a government of governor Ahmadu Umaru, their value to the government is no more. What Governor Fintiri needs now is reconciliation, building of new alliances and maximum votes from all the 21 local government councils. Bashir is just destroying that for Fintiri in Jimeta, Yola-North- the LGA with the highest voters in Adamawa- Bashi is intolerant, domineering, unreceptive and arrogant
