Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has arrived in Sokoto State alongside his running mate, Rotimi Amaechi, ahead of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential campaign activities in the state.
The ADC presidential candidate is expected to lead the campaign kick-off as the party begins mobilising support ahead of the 2027 general election.
The visit comes amid political tension following Atiku’s allegation that the Department of State Services (DSS) was plotting to organise protests to disrupt the party’s activities in Sokoto. The DSS denied the allegation but ordered an investigation.
Atiku had insisted that the campaign would proceed despite the reported challenges, urging residents and supporters to remain peaceful.
